Contemporary Cool Cat
It can be a challenge when your home owner has a liking for the Rat Pack era, but has a property that’s not from that period, instead being something more modern and contemporary. But with some creative thinking and design, we managed to combine a mainly neutral slick and contemporary style, with some bright Palm Springs themed color highlights, and a sprinkle of Rat Pack cool for good measure!
We gave the lounge room an indoor-outdoor feel with some green hues and palm trees, supplemented by matching wall art that continued the vivid color palette. The adjacent poker room benefitted from “playing card” related wall art, while the pool room also was adorned with some black and white Rat Pack inspired art that really spoke of the era and paired nicely with the black felted table.
The master bedroom was glammed up with gold accents to give it a luxurious feel, while each of the other three bedrooms gained their own individual color theme that was borne out in the rugs, pillows, lighting and wall art chosen in each.
The outdoor area was also not forgotten, gaining some special touches with a metallic Palm Springs wall sign and rolling drinks cooler, all done in sunset hues. If only Frank, Dean, Sammy, Peter and Joey were alive today…
