Mountain Gate Makeover
This expansive pool home in the popular Mountain Gate community of Palm Springs was purchased by a couple moving to town from New Jersey. They wished to update the home, especially when it came to the kitchen and bathrooms, desiring to replace most of the darker browns and tans with a fresher palette and more contemporary feel.
Starting with the kitchen, we revised the layout, replacing the existing small island with a more sizable one that better fit the large empty central space. We opted for white marble-look quartz countertops with waterfalls for the island, while refacing the cabinets with a white shaker style door and fresh contemporary chrome pulls. To pair with the greys in the marble veins and wall paint, a turquoise blue tile was installed for the backsplash, with a single white row of tiles included to add interest and better tie in with the white cabinets. Large turquoise glass ball pendants completed the look to create a kitchen perfect for cooking and entertaining alike with the now abundant counter space and stool seating.
Meanwhile we tied in the master bedroom with its adjacent bathroom, first starting with a unique rustic “peeling paint” style aqua wallpaper and hanging pendant bedside lighting. Then we totally made over the bathroom with new shower tile that extended around to encompass the vanity area and replaced the former “caveman” aesthetic. The existing vanity was painted white, new pulls added and a fresh countertop was installed. This was finished off with more contemporary mirrors and lighting that gave a fresh and luxurious spa-like feel.
The second bedroom also benefitted from a grey and silver wallpaper installed behind the bed which served to life the ambience, along with fresh paint for the remainder of the room.
Outside around the pool, we replaced the worn and messy thatch bar roof with a slicker looking yellow canvas fabric adorned with a white trim, giving a far more clean and inviting look. Matching yellow umbrellas were added, contributing to a more cohesive “resort” feel.
Furniture was also selected with comfortable wide sun lounges near the pool, and bright yellow stools for the bar. These gave off a true “Palm Springs” vibe, perfect for our newly arrived homemakers who absolutely loved our work to create the finished product.
